As the Pee Dee IceCats continued shaping their inaugural roster, they needed forwards who could bring size, defensive responsibility, and a physical presence to a brand‑new franchise. Ben Pizzimenti was exactly that kind of player. A 6’2″, 194‑pound left‑shot forward with FPHL and SPHL experience, Pizzimenti arrived in Florence as a mature, reliable, and quietly impactful addition to the IceCats’ lineup.

From his first shifts in an IceCats sweater, he brought structure, strength, and a hard‑working identity that helped define Pee Dee’s competitive foundation.

A Proven Path Through the FPHL and SPHL

Before joining Pee Dee, Pizzimenti built a résumé defined by versatility and defensive reliability. He began his pro career in the 2025–26 season with the Columbus River Dragons, where he established himself as a defensively responsible forward capable of handling tough minutes.

He later added SPHL experience with the Birmingham Bulls and Macon Mayhem, sharpening his physical game and learning how to compete against stronger, faster opponents. Those stints helped him develop into a forward who can:

  • win board battles,
  • kill plays defensively,
  • support the puck in all three zones, and
  • bring a steady, veteran presence to any line.

That combination of size, responsibility, and pro experience made him a natural fit for an expansion team looking for stability down the middle.

Why He Fits the IceCats’ Identity

Pizzimenti plays a modern, two‑way style built on structure, physicality, and smart positioning. His strengths align perfectly with Pee Dee’s system:

  • Strong defensive instincts — He reads plays early, supports low in the zone, and wins the small battles that prevent scoring chances.
  • Physical presence — At 6’2″, he leans on opponents, protects the puck, and brings a heavy, grinding style that wears teams down.
  • Reliable puck support — He’s always in the right spot, always available as an outlet, and rarely forces mistakes.
  • Underrated offensive touch — When opportunities open up, he has the hands and awareness to capitalize.

He’s the kind of forward who gives a line identity — someone who brings balance, structure, and predictability to every shift.

A Forward Who Elevates the Players Around Him

Pizzimenti’s value goes beyond his individual skill set. He’s a glue‑guy — the type of forward who makes his linemates better by:

  • winning the hard battles that extend offensive‑zone time,
  • providing defensive cover that frees wingers to attack,
  • creating space with his size and physicality, and
  • stabilizing shifts during momentum swings.

He’s the quiet engine of a line — the player who keeps everything connected.

A Competitor With a Clutch Gene

Pizzimenti doesn’t just play hard — he plays big in big moments. On March 13, 2026, his clutch goal against his former team (Columbus), scored in the final minute of the first period to give the IceCats the lead, showcased exactly who he is:

A competitor with pride.
A player who rises when the moment demands it.
A forward who brings emotion and edge to the lineup.

His presence energizes the bench and sets a tone for how Pee Dee expects to compete.

A Core Piece of Pee Dee’s Identity

As the IceCats continue building their foundation, Pizzimenti stands out as one of the players who gives the franchise its backbone. His blend of size, defensive reliability, and timely offense makes him a key piece of Pee Dee’s long‑term plans.

He’s not just a defensive forward.
He’s one of the players who gives the IceCats their competitive heartbeat.

And as the franchise grows, one thing is certain: Ben Pizzimenti will continue anchoring Pee Dee’s two‑way game — with strength, intelligence, and the clutch presence that defines his play.
